An echocardiogram ( echo) is an ultrasound test that looks at the structure and function of your heart. It can determine the pumping action of the heart and evaluate how blood flows across your heart’s valves. It can also diagnose damage to the heart muscle ( from a prior heart attack), valvular disease, infection in the valves, clots and a cardiac tumor
A specialized cardiac sonographer will perform your test which usually takes about 30 minutes. No preparation is necessary. No radiation is used.
